Change your Minecraft version or server type

NGP Cloud supports Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Vanilla, Forge, Fabric, Bedrock and modpacks.

Before you change anything

  1. Take a backup - see Creating and restoring backups.
  2. Check your plugins or mods support the new version. Outdated ones are the #1 cause of crashes after an update.

Change the Minecraft version

  1. Open your server on panel.ngpcloud.in and go to Startup.
  2. Find the Minecraft Version variable and enter the version you want, for example 1.21.1, or latest.
  3. Go to Settings and click Reinstall Server. This downloads the server software for the new version.
  4. Start the server and watch the console. The first start on a new version can take a few minutes while the world is upgraded.

Change the server type (e.g. Paper → Forge)

Switching between plugin software (Paper, Purpur, Spigot) usually keeps your world compatible. Switching to a modded loader (Forge, Fabric) or a modpack changes how the server starts.

  1. Back up the server and download your world.
  2. Open a ticket with /ticket → Technical Support and tell us the server type and version you want.
  3. We switch the server type for you. You then re-upload your world if needed - see Upload an existing world.

Let players join the new version

Players must launch the same Minecraft version (or use a version that your server's plugins, such as ViaVersion, support). Otherwise they see "Outdated client" or "Outdated server".
