Set up your Rust server

Everything you need to get a Rust server online, listed and wiped on your schedule.

First start

  1. Open your server on panel.ngpcloud.in and click Start.
  2. Be patient: the first start downloads the Rust dedicated server (several GB) and generates the map. It can take 5-15 minutes.
  3. It's ready when the console shows Server startup complete.

Basic settings

Most settings live on the Startup tab as variables. Stop the server, change them, then start it again:

VariableWhat it controls
Server NameThe name in the server browser
Description / URL / Header ImageWhat players see on your server's info page
LevelMap type, e.g. Procedural Map
World SizeMap size - 3000-3500 suits most servers; bigger maps need more RAM
World SeedWhich procedural map generates
Max PlayersPlayer slots
RCON PasswordPassword for remote admin tools - set a strong one

Make yourself an admin

  1. Find your SteamID64 (paste your Steam profile link into a site like steamid.io).

  2. In the console, run:

    ownerid YOUR_STEAMID64 "YourName"
    server.writecfg

  3. Reconnect to the game - you now have admin rights.

Connect

In Rust, press F1 to open the console and run:

client.connect 203.0.113.10:28015

Use the IP and port from your panel. New servers can take up to an hour to appear in the in-game Community / Modded browser.

Add Oxide / Carbon plugins

  1. On Startup, set the modding framework variable to Oxide (uMod) or Carbon and restart.
  2. Download plugins (.cs files) from umod.org.
  3. Upload them to oxide/plugins (or carbon/plugins). They load automatically - no restart needed.

Wipe the server

  1. Stop the server and take a backup.
  2. In the file manager, open server/YOUR_IDENTITY/ (usually server/rust/).
  3. Map wipe: delete the .map and .sav files.
  4. Blueprint wipe: also delete the player.blueprints.*.db files.
  5. Optionally change the World Seed for a fresh map, then Start.
