Editing server.properties
server.properties holds your server's core settings - player limit, difficulty, game mode, the message players see in their server list and more.
Edit the file
- Stop the server (it can overwrite your edits if it's running).
- Open the file manager and click
server.propertiesin the main folder. - Change the values you need.
- Click Save Content, then Start the server.

Keep online-mode=true
online-mode checks that players own a genuine Minecraft account. Turning it off lets anyone join as any username - including as you, with operator permissions. Only set it to false behind a properly configured proxy such as Velocity or BungeeCord.
Changes not applying?
- Make sure you saved while the server was stopped.
- Check for typos: values are case-sensitive and there are no spaces around
=. - A few settings (like
level-seed) only affect newly generated worlds.
