Point your domain to your server
Use your own domain - like yourdomain.com or play.yourdomain.com - instead of an IP address. You do this with DNS records wherever your domain's DNS is managed (your registrar, Cloudflare, or NGP Cloud if you bought the domain from us).
Websites (VPS or web hosting)
Add these records:
| Type | Name / Host | Value | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | @ | your server's IP, e.g. 203.0.113.10 | Auto |
| CNAME | www | yourdomain.com | Auto |
For web hosting, use the IP (or nameservers) shown in your hosting control panel.
Game servers (Minecraft example)
To let players join with play.yourdomain.com and hide the port:
-
Add an A record: name
play, value = your server's IP. -
Add an SRV record:
Field Value Service _minecraftProtocol _tcpName playPriority 0Weight 5Port your server's port, e.g. 25565Target play.yourdomain.com
Players can now connect to play.yourdomain.com with no port.
Wait for DNS to update
Changes usually apply within minutes, but can take up to 24-48 hours to reach everyone. Check progress from your computer:
nslookup play.yourdomain.com
When it returns your server's IP, the record is live.
Next step for websites
Once the domain points to your server, secure it with HTTPS - see Set up an SSL certificate.
